On March 29th St. Paul Denver ECC and 6th Ave UCC hosted a Lenten Soup & Speaker Event, "Can We Have A Serious Conversation About Gun Violence?" featuring Tom Mauser, father of Columbine High School victim Daniel Mauser, addressing the complexities of the gun violence crisis. Ask us what we learned and why we are passionately engaged in making a difference!
Sue Kaessner and Fr. Michael Nicosia of StP attended the Gun Violence Prevention Lobby Day with Colorado Ceasefire and Colorado Faith Communities to end gun violence (CFCU) on March 2nd. The pdf in the following link has lots of information about the state of gun Violence in Colorado and what WE can do about it, including information on how to lobby, who your legislators are, and what bills are before the House and Senate for consideration! Explanation of bills and legislative contact info here. We urge our community to at least phone or email your legislators by Monday! The more they hear from supporters of these important bills the better, as the gun lobby is sure to mount aggressive opposition (literally---some legislators have received death threats).
Then consider testifying when a bill that's important to you is in committee in the coming weeks.
